Larks in the Morning with a Gold Ring: On Whistle
I spend a fair amount of time playing through all the Concordances and different versions of melodies as they appear in historic collections. These tunes aren’t that. Lark in the Morning is one of my favorite jigs to play at sessions, but these two different tunes, both called The Lark in the Morning are obviously not the well known session jig. Similarly the Gold Ring is a well loved Uilleann pipe jig, but this is the different tune of the same name which was popular in the Eighteenth century, appearing in William Vickers’ manuscript.
