about

David Young wrote this setting for the Duke of Perth at Drummond Castle in 1734. Coincidentally, Joseph MacDonald (Patrick MacDonald’s brother) was educated by a different David Young. I badgered Pete Stewart and Keith Sanger to try and prove that the two were the same, but it appears that the more famous David Young, who made these glorious collections of music, was busy in Aberdeenshire at the same time Joseph MacDonald was at school in the Scottish Borders.
