31. Jenny Nettles
This setting comes from William Gunn, but it was quite a popular tune and nursery Rhyme throughout the eighteenth century. The song that goes with this melody is about a lover who is abandoned by one of Rob Roy's officers in the 1715 Jacobite Rising who hanged herself.
William Gunn's Caledonian Repository of Music was published in 1848. You can download the book thanks to Ceol Sean: ceolsean.net/content/Gunn/Gunn_TOC.html
