about

14. Go to the Devil and Shake Yourself
This tune comes from Cooke's Country Dances for 1796 Published in Dublin. I've had an easy time finding English and to a lesser extent Scottish Country Dance Books, but Cooke's two volumes, one for 1796 and another for 1797 are the first ones I've been able to find printed in Dublin, and that is thanks to ITMA's hosting:
www.itma.ie/digital-library/text/cookes-country-dances-1796/
This tune appears in several Scottish collections as the song Come Under My Plaidy. I play several of my favorite tunes from the 1796 volume and some of the greater musical connections to those tunes on Episode 29 of Season 4: www.wetootwaag.com/s4e29
