about

“Cave of Enchantment” came from one of my favorite country dance collections, published by Straight & Skillern. I had planned to play a set of two tunes that were next to one another in the book, “Cave of Enchantment” and “Exeter Change,” which both sound great on Uillean Pipes. I noticed that Cave of Enchantment sounded interesting on Highland pipes and took advantage of C- and F-naturals. When I started playing it on GHB, my fingers began playing a tune from the soundtrack from Mio and the Land of Far Away, which was one of my childhood movies. I also like that it takes advantage of the ability to hit the second octave on a Highland pipe chanter.
